On June 9th 2012, The Surrey Sound of Music gave its debut concert, marking the launch of the school.[slideshow id=2 w=’242’] The majority of students took part, performing solos in a range of repertoire and styles in both singing and flute. Students also performed collaboratively, fusing flute and singing together in medleys of The Lion King and various music by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
It was a fun day for all after weeks of practising in their lessons and couldn’t wait to show off their new skills in front of friends and family! We had a day of rehearsals where students had the chance to rehearse with the piano, make new friends and get used to the performance space! We even had to put the medleys together on the day of the concert, with great success thanks to students’ hard work and dedication!
Both Emma and Rachel performed themselves, giving the students an opportunity to hear their teacher in action, and hopefully providing some inspiration.
We had a encouraging and friendly audience made up of friends and family who showed their support to everyone involved, and we can’t wait for our next concert at Christmas!
