Joe Turner
GuitarTeacher
Joe got his first guitar aged 10, and has never looked back since. His musical taste varies from the likes of jazz and soul music, to the extremities of metal and hard rock (and everything in-between)! As a result of this vast taste, Joe is able to teach Acoustic and Electric Guitar.
After attaining an A in his music GCSE at Wellington County Grammar School, Joe began pursuing a career in music through studying at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford for four years. Joe studied Guitar performance from Diploma level, to Higher Diploma and finally onto a Bmus (Hons) Degree – in which he gained First Class Honours. During his time at ACM, he was able to gain a strong understanding of music theory, alongside playing a wealth of popular genres that are heard across the world.
Personally, Joe has achieved some great feats in his career already. He played at Glastonbury Festival 2015 in association with PRS For Music, and also performed at Bestival on the Isle of Wight in 2013. Joe has also been a part of several bands as a way of being able to stay diverse with his guitar playing. His originals band ‘MassMatiks’ were featured on a BBC Three documentary ‘The School That Rocks,’ and have also played sold-out UK tours in 2016 to over 10,000 people.
Joe has taught students within an age range of 6-50, and of all abilities. Joe’s teaching approach will always be tailored to the student’s requirements. Whether it’s grading (Trinity/Rock School), music theory, or just learning new techniques, Joe will always be able and happy to work towards whatever the student is looking to achieve – however will always strongly advise learning Music Theory, and ear training to become a better and all-rounded musician.
Joe holds an enhanced DBS check.
